Duties and Role:
Core Technical Expertise:
- Microsoft Exchange Server:
Management of mailboxes, distribution groups, connectors, and public folders.
Expertise in migration tasks, including on-premises to Exchange Online (Office 365) and cross-version upgrades.
Troubleshooting mail flow, delivery issues, and transport rules. o Implementing Exchange security features like encryption, anti-spam, and anti-malware.
- Active Directory (AD):
Configuration and management of Group Policies (GPOs).
Expertise in multi-domain and multi-forest environments.
Implementation of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and account provisioning.
Managing trusts, replication, and domain controllers.
- Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS):
Identity Federation: Expertise in setting up and managing identity federation, including integrating with external identity providers (e.g., Azure AD, third-party services).
Active Directory: Strong knowledge of Active Directory, including user management, domain controllers, and group policies, as ADFS relies heavily on AD for authentication.
SSL/TLS Configuration: Proficiency in configuring SSL certificates for secure communication between ADFS servers, relying parties, and clients.
Claims-based Authentication: Understanding of claims-based authentication protocols, such as SAML, OAuth, and WS- Federation, used in ADFS for user identity management.
Troubleshooting: Ability to troubleshoot common ADFS issues, such as authentication failures, token signing, and federation trust problems.
Networking and Infrastructure:
- Deep understanding of DNS, including MX records, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for email routing.
- Experience with certificate management for secure email communication.
- Familiarity with load balancers and high-availability solutions for Exchange and AD.
- Proficiency in PowerShell for managing Exchange and Active Directory.
- Automation of administrative tasks, mailbox provisioning, and bulk changes.
- Writing scripts to monitor health and performance.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to email delivery, authentication, and directory services.
- Performance tuning of Exchange databases and domain controllers.
- Experience with monitoring tools like SCOM or other third-party solutions.
- Expertise in managing Exchange and AD backup and disaster recovery processes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication for coordinating with teams and end- users.
- Attention to detail in documentation of configurations and procedures.
Skill, Knowledge & Experience:
- The candidate must have a currently active NATO COSMIC TOP SECRET security clearance
- VMware Product Knowledge: Proficiency in VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX, vSAN.
- Virtualization Technologies: Deep understanding of virtualization concepts, hypervisors, and virtual machine lifecycle management.
- Networking: Knowledge of virtual networking, VLANs, vSwitches, distributed switches, and NSX for network virtualization.
- Storage: Familiarity with storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, FC) and VMware storage features like vSAN, datastore management, and storage policies.
- Scripting and Automation: Experience with PowerShell, PowerCLI for automating tasks and managing VMware environments.
- Operating Systems: Proficiency in administering Linux and Windows servers.
- Cloud Integration: Understanding VMware cloud solutions and hybrid cloud environments.
- Backup and Recovery: Skills in implementing and managing backup solutions, snapshots, and disaster recovery plans.
- Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting: Ability to monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot VMware environments.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose complex virtualization issues and provide effective solutions.
- Communication: Clear and effective communication skills to interact with teams, stakeholders, and end-users.
- Documentation: Competency in creating and maintaining detailed documentation for system configurations and procedures.
